Does the entrepreneurial state crowd out entrepreneurship?

Abstract This paper argues that an entrepreneurial state can inadvertently crowd out entrepreneurship. Using the context provided by Singapore, finds coordinated policies prioritize and target capital, knowledge, human capital accumulation in particular industries, sectors, technologies, firms have created a formidable societal knowledge filter, which turn impede endogenous activity. By serving as entrepreneur, Singapore’s imposes its vision assuming core values traits of opportunity recognition, discovery, action. The state, at least case retards transition to society, which, paradoxically, is state.
